BUSES: Update on the Number 2 Service, increase in frequency

by on 17 September, 2016

New Bus Stop 2015From the 19th September Service 2 ( until recently the no 1)  in Combe Down will operate a short section of “Hail and Ride” operation on North Road immediately after the junction with Combe Road where the bus makes a right turn towards Stonehouse Lane and the Hadley Arms.

Intending passengers can signal the bus from the bench seat area opposite the Combe Road junction and the bus will then stop where it is safe to do so after the junction. Passengers can also alight here by asking the driver.

From 13th November the service frequency will increase to every 20 minutes during the day; this increase in frequency is funded by the Foxhill s106 agreement. The service will operate inbound to the City from Widcombe via Pulteney Road, North Parade, and Manvers Street to Dorchester Street, which should improve access to the city centre for Combe Down residents.

In the first instance a city-bound stop will be provided in Combe Down on the south side of Bradford Road Before the “Forrester and Flower” slightly to the east. The bus will then turn left from Combe Road before it U-turns at the new access island to the development.

Residents had objected to a proposal of a stop out side 173 – 185 Bradford Road. I raised this with Officers, and this will not now go ahead.
