New Resident’s Association Formed – A voice for Foxhill in the Regeneration Plans

by on 24 August, 2015

Selworthy House

On Wednesday 10th August a meeting with residents from Foxhill and Bradord Road invited to attend took place in the Community Centre on Hawthorn Grove. the purpose was to form a new Residents Association. I attended, on the invitation of a number of residents who had received a leaflet about the meeting

This meeting followed on from a Conservative Election Meeting held by Ben Howlett a few months ago, before the General Election, and with a Focus on people’s fears and concerns with Curo’s proposals to regenerate parts of the existing Foxhill Estate in a few years time, which will affect numbers of people’s homes.

A Residents Association was formed. A temporary Chair for one month was selected until a full Chair is appointed. The temporary Chair is Sally Buddle, Curate from Holy Trinity Church, Combe Down. please do get in touch with her if you would like to find out more.

I welcome such an Association,  in order that there is a voice for resident’s to have their views and concerns heard. The more input from people living on the Estate into the proposed plans for any regeneration of Foxhill Estate, the better.  Open dialogue with Curo, raising issues and concerns is the best way forward.

I have stated very clearly, over a year ago, that I would not support Compulsory Purchase of homes on the Estate. It is apparent that some of Curo’s property on the Estate is in real need of renovation, and new facilities and infrastructure will enhance the area, with more shops, hopefully businesses, a school, and green space across the existing Estate and the new Mulberry Park.

I am here to support residents – home owners and Curo Tenants – to benefit from any proposals affecting the Community. I have tackled a number of issues with Curo over the past couple of years, raised by residents, and I will continue to be vigilant in overseeing this project  The first phase of building (estimated to start 2016) will be on the new Mulberry Park ( old Foxhill MoD Site).  From 2018 Curo’s programme is planned to start to regenerate parts of the Foxhill Estate

Please get in touch if you would like to talk to me, or would like me to be present at any meetings with Curo about your housing position.
