I have been in touch with the National Trust about the problem of visitors parking, causing a hazard along Claverton Down Road. residents have been in touch, saying it is very difficult to turn out of Flatwoods Road, and various other exits on to the main road, as the parked vehicles block the sight lines.
I alerted Officers and the current thinking is to look at extending the double yellow lines on the south side of the road and introducing some sections of double yellow lines on the north side of the road in order to allow safe passing places when cars are parked. Any proposals will go out to consultation in the usual way, however it is estimated that installation could not happen before next summer, which I am not happy with and will argue for a shorter timescale in implementation. I have also suggested to Tom Boden of the NT that they make arrangements with the University, Sulis Club for temporary parking there when necessary.
